Sherlock Holmes Gets His Stripes from Out West Woodcarving Videos on Vimeo.
A few of you ask if I would show how I was going to paint the coat on Sherlock so here is a video of part of the process. I'm not as steady as I used to be but it turned out pretty good I think. There are lots of photos in the Gallery and I'll look forward to your comments.
what a handsome and dapper chap he is. I like the colors and the style of his clothing. I really am impressed by the cloak over his arm, I can't even figure out how to start to do that , a real engineering challenge to me. I also am in love with that big old pipe. This is the quintessential Sherlock Holmes.. a perfect rendition.

ReplyDeleteSherlock looks fantastic! Tweed is fantastic and the pipe really makes the caricature, can be no doubt who this is supposed to be . I would love to see your version of Jack the Ripper that would go together with Sherlock so well I think!!!!! Amazing work as always Lynn. Trev

ReplyDeleteNow that's Way Cool !!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat carving from top to bottom and everything all around. I know he's on a journey across the pond but if it was entered in competition in any woodcarving show he'd win hands down.
ReplyDeleteWhere did all these people come from, I say Sherlock is a big hit, I think he looks GREAT too!

PS..His shirt looked awfully shiny when you were painting the coat, did you put a finish on him before hand, to kind of seal him?

Nothing new.....I brushed on a coat of Poly satin finish and then killed any shing with Testors Dul-Coat!
