Part 16 - Finished At Last from Out West Woodcarving Videos on Vimeo.
Well, we've finally come to the end of this little experiment in using something we thought might be the basis of a new character and, taking advantage of some available tricks and tips, develop it into something completely different. I think our Marshal turned out real well and I hope you picked up some things that will help you to do the same with some of your future projects. Patterns and rough-outs can..or at least should, appeal to you for only so long. After that you should strike out on your own to see what you personally can accomplish. That's the real fun of this craft...to look at a finished piece and know that it came from you.
Fantastic Piece!
ReplyDeleteThe Marshall joins a long line of Lynn's Masterpieces. Even though I study these videos, I still believe Lynn invokes the use of fairy dust or enchanted carving knives or something! They are simply amazing to watch come together.

I sometimes wonder if you are Human, he he. I never see you make mistakes. This series is an example of that (no mistakes) . A great series and am looking forward to the next series.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see a video on you painting the Sherlock Holmes caricature . That would be really helpful . Thanks again for all the things you and Judy do for Us. Ginny
Thanks tons for the clarification on the Sand-O-Flex drive motor and grit!
ReplyDeleteMost excellent piece.

I really enjoyed this series on the marshal Lynn ,it was great to see your development process . I particularly liked the longer face and chin, I think I will do something similar to this shape but maybe give him a monical and either make him an old time school master or an undertaker!!! Thanks for the inspiration and for one of your best series yet ! Eagerly looking forward to your next , maybe with a little something like a fence and gate or chair / stool , or chopping logs or stacked boxes !!! Just suggestions ! Keep up the good work . Trev
