  1. An opportunity for change, not a mistake, and the carving is better than before. Lots of "mistakes" must happen for a reason, and that reason is that the carving is telling you it wants something different than you want. I always listen to my carvings, and it appears you do as well. I like the spoon, but I didn't take metal shop so if I nee a spoon it will probablly be wooden. Progress continues.

  2. You ever notice how people may be famous while they are alive, but, the truly great ones don't really become great until they are long gone, then everyone knows their name? Don't you worry Lynn, the Antique Road Show will remember your name! ;)

  3. Fantastic idea Judy!!! - dripping beans!!!
Being the amateur that I am and granted I was not sitting next to you, but, the thought occured to me that as a last resort, you could just cut his hand off at the wrist since his sleeve goes to his hand and just rotate the hand into position. You don't have to worry about the forearm since it is hidden by the t-shirt. Dowel and glue it into place and then trim where necessary. But, even I know that this suggestion would be a "last" resort. My two cents and that idea is only really worth that two cents. lol

  4. Lynn, I just found a new way to make the spoon...I cut out some step flashing and put a domed screw in my vice and tightened it flat on the vice, then put the spoon cutout on it and used a hammer and lightly tapped the flashing and it made a spoon.. Just thought I'd share this with everyone..:)
