Here is first part of carving the Shield blank. I told you it would be easy. In the next segment we’ll try and get it painted and hopefully make some feathers.

Please note: In the video I say that the thickness of the shield should be 1/4”. It should actually be at least 3/8” to 1/2” thick. My goof! Sorry!

I put a couple Shield designs in the Gallery album but I encourage you to come up with your own. Comments are welcome as always.
Thanks Lynn for putting up with the heat to make another great video. I can't wait to get started on this one. Thanks again for all you and your very capable camera operator do for us woodcarvers, I for one appreciate it.

Ditto to Gary's remarks, here where the Temp. is forcasted to be 100 today in S.C. But hey it's Summer time.....LOL
ReplyDeleteI thank you so much for the great direction on this shield. This is completely different from the norm I do, but its great. You know I always hear that bird singing in the background, of your work area. He always sounds happy. Well Lynn and Judy, thanks again for you instruction and good camera work, and always stay healthy and happy. fred k
ReplyDeleteWhew! I was sweatin' along with ya till you turned the AC on. Great instructional video and like you said, it really goes pretty fast. Don't think my shield will be accomplished in 20-30 minutes like yours did, as you sure do make it look easy to do. But, I do want to get a blank cut out and sit on the porch and see what developes......in the meantime you two keep cool!
