  2. Lynn. Thank you for the very detailed carving of the eye. Most of us have trouble with the eye at least I do. But if I go at it like you did in this video I think my troubles will be over. I hope. Thanks. Ginny

  3. This was probably the best eye tutorial I have seen. Even better than your previous eye vids. I especially liked it when you asked if we could see the detail you had just carved and Judy said no for us. I know that it just takes you a split second to see and evaluate the carving in your hands, but for us at home it takes a bit longer to find and study the cuts, even takes a bit to find and hit the pause button on our computers. It slows you down to hold the carving out and still for Judy to film for us, but it really adds to the impact your videos make on the viewers..thanks for slowing yourself down and showing us what is happening at each stage. I hope my eyes will soon begin to resemble those you carve, it is hard until those hours of practice have occurred, I am still accumulating practice time. I too had wondered if the beard was going to cause a problem with the body..do you ever jut it forward on the cut-out to give yourself more room for a chubby or thick-chested figure? Looking forward t the next installments.this is a neat project.

  4. Nice tutorial on the eyes. Mine aren't bad but they're not quite right either, and after watching this I think I make my eyes too small. I believe I'll try your style next time.

  6. Lynn & Judy:
Thank you so much for all your hard work and talent. I absolutely Love the carvings you do and watching you create your art is a real treat.
I know a while back someone made a comment to you about your "banter" as you carved and I don't think they appreciated it. I believe it's all part of the experience of watching you carve and hearing your views and tips. In fact on part 6 of Don Q I thought you were really too quiet.
I haven't sent in any comments before this because I didn't know about the blog until you mentioned it, that and the fact I didn't feel "worthy" of making any comments to such a Master as yourself.
Thank You again for making these videos available and sharing so much of your time.
Now I have to get off my butt and put blade to wood.
Remember to always drink upstream from the heard.

  7. Thanks so much for spending time on the eyes. They are a struggle for me. I tried your method and they turned out fair. I will keep working on them. I also appreciate the tips on sharpening and using the tools, etc.

  10. HECK YEAH! I just checked your blog today to see what was new and I saw that you had posted a new video series. I LOVE watching these video. They make me want to get up and go. And I really appreciate that you took the time to look at my shoe carving and comment on it.

Unfortunately I am too sick to get up and do all of the wood carving and art work that I want to do. I have spent the past 4 years in bed getting up an hour or two here and there. May be out of the bed 1 day a week for 4-5 hours. But every few months or so I have enough energy to be out of bed for a few days and I try to sneak a project in then. WHich is when I carved the little shoe. I am looking forward to getting well! Better look out then I am going to carve every hunk of wood I can find! THese videos keep me not only entertained but keep my mind thinking about art and how to do it. So hopefully I will not loose all of the skills I had and actually improve them at the same time. Keeping my mind exercised I guess is what I am trying to say.

Keep the videos coming! Thank you guys so much for doing all of this work for us and showing how you do things. I love watching other artists work as much as I like creating art myself.

THe only thing I can think of as far as improving the videos is remember to count to 10 or 15 what ever you guys decide is long enough to hold you work up so we can get a look at it. I totally understand that you are accustomed to holding it up there for a second looking at what you need to do next and then doing it. Keeping that flow going. Otherwise GREAT JOB! Thanks!
