Well, here he is. It looks like he's not really sure just what he's supposed to prepare! I think there is one thing we can count on though and that's that it will not rate any stars from the Michelin Guide!.
This was really a fun piece to do and as I'll probably never do another like it it will have to rate the "Classic" designation, something I don't hand out very often. That scrawny neck on the chicken might look fragile but it's been reinforced with a metal rod so it's not as fragile as it might appear. With the base I'd say it stands around 18-19 inches tall.
Hope you like him as much as I do. There are more photos in the Gallery and your comments are welcome as always.
Lynn,
ReplyDeleteAnother good one. I'm glad you veer away from your normal stuff sometimes it really showcases your talent and ability. Thanks for sharing hope you and Judy have a wonderful Christmas.

I do like him, I have carved a couple of chef's and find them a fun subject...you can go so many ways with a chef, and that hat just invites a wide range of styles and it is fun to design and carve. The chicken is priceless, and you did a great job on this guy....I just hope I never look up when I am at a restaurant and see him in the kitchen. A really fun carving to look at, and that size is really impressive. Outstanding job. Hope you and Judy are going to have family around for Christmas, it is so much more fun with kids and grandkids to share it with. Merry Christmas to the both of you and to all the blog followers.
ReplyDeleteHi Lynn , I agree it's great to see something a little different. Have you ever thought of trying something like Charlie Chaplin or Laurel and Hardy, all in black whites and greys to get that real old school look? I know it's on my to try list.

ReplyDeleteI like all of it. I wish you could have done a video on him as well. Of course I think you should do videos on all of your carvings. Ginny
ReplyDeleteReally like this one. It looks like it was a lot of fun. My wife has beeen after me to do a bottle stopper with a chef's hat. Did you do this hat seperately like you do the cowboys?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the continued challanges to improve our work.
The hat is separate. I normally carve a head while setting with the boys each tuesday at the senior center. Once back at the shop I wait till inspiration shows up to flesh it out. Worked out pretty good in this case. Thanks for the comments.
