I started this series with just a generic cowboy bust in mind but then switched over to a Buffalo Soldier. Now, after seeing a really nice rendering of that subject I've been thinking of doing a complete figure with lots of details. This morning, in checking the hit count on my blog, I noted a pretty big spike of individual hits. To me that indicates there is a lot of interest in this video series but it doesn't tell me whether it's for the bust or the full figure. So.....how about a little poll to see which is more popular? If you want the bust I'll stick with that and put off the full figure till some time later. Just let me know.

ReplyDeleteIf you do full figure then you are getting both.It would just be a matter of taking off the parts you don`t want on a bust. Just my opinion and my wife says that`s not much. Vince

I would like to see you keeping 'old reliable sharp' and ponder how often. A blade change is one thing but I would imagine you take it to a buffing wheel or not when you said you hone 'old reliable'. This is something only a guy that uses a utility knife so well could answer.
Could be you have and I just missed it along the way.

ReplyDeleteI have another question-- sometime ago on your old blog you had a picture of a cowboy holding a cup of coffee and was pouring it out on the ground. it had a tag that said something like "who made this...". I can't find it anymore. it sure would be nice if you still have a pic of it and could put it in your gallery for everyone to see. it was a great carving!! thanks for your time and all the videos you make for us.

and Bob --- thanks for the history on the Buffalo Soldier. It alsways adds more when you know a little bit about the subject. Like travelling, if you ever go see say the Eifel TOwer, sure you know what it is. But, if you know something about it, it definitely makes your experience more menaingful and unforgetable. I totally agree with Glen Landry! Watching you make the "accessories" is probably, to me anyway, one of the best parts of the videos. I LOVE watching you carve and also paint and now with your good wife adding her comments I enjoy it even more. I don't feel like the only woman who's doing something other than housework.
