We've been dealing with a major hardware problem over the past few days but after a trip to Joplin and the purchase of a new CPU we should be back in operation today. What a bummer!
Good to hear from you, we had wondered were you were. I thought you were swamped by all the replied about bust vs full figure..that question got more replies than I have ever seen on the blog. Hope your new computer gets you back in business, and welcome back.
Rebuilding a system is always a huge PITA. Hate it! Even with the good backup systems, there's too much reinstall work to do.
I hope you were using something like Carbonite or Mozy to back up your data ... making that part of the recovery easier. I once was too much of a skinflint to spend 60 bucks a year on backup, until I realized the value of what I keep and the value of my time.
Best wishes in getting back to normal (carving not geeking) soon!
Ouch! That can be a huge hurt not only to the pocket book, but on your data as well. I too sure hope you had a good data backup plan in place. Sometimes reloading all your software and trying to figure out what you downloaded from web sites can be almost as big of an ouch. Hope it all goes smoothly for you.
