Thought you might like to see this fella before he heads over to the paint table. He will be wearing a yellow slicker, holding a lariat and standing in a pool of water. I'll use some really high gloss varnish to simulate water on the slicker and then epoxy resin to make the puddle. All the area of the figure out of the rain will be left flat.

Not much detail on him being as he's wearing a raincoat but then that's the way it is. I'll probably give him a black hat which should make a strong contrast with the coat. Ought to be a pretty striking figure even though it's a simple one.

More photos in the Gallery and your comments are always appreciated.
He looks pretty wet and sad even without the paint and high gloss Lynn. I like how his hat droops and his turned down mouth.
ReplyDeletegood job

Another winner! How in the world do you manage to come up with such diverse subject matter?? Are you just lloking through books or sitting there staring out the window when you get these ideas?

You're the Best!!! Even in the rain!!!!
ReplyDeleteRaining here, 2.....
he's pretty darn slick. I have a question- did you carve his arms intack or did you carve them and then attach to the body? I can't see any lines where they would be attached.
ReplyDeleteGood-un Lynn! Like them spurs and hope you'll show us sometime how you do 'em. And keepin'it simple iin detail is my forte....but even when you do it, it's at a higher level. Thanx for keeping us reaching those heights.
ReplyDeleteNumber one great job. Another really fine carving Lynn. To me, that hat just sets it off. A question I have wanted to ask for awhile. When we are looking at the pictures in Picasa, I see that the photo information shows the pictures to be a big resolution, but when we click on them it is a smaller picture. Is there something we can click on to get the full 800x1600 resolution. In some cases it's good for seeing the details maybe a bit better. It's probably right in front of me and I'm just missing it. Just curious.....Myron
ReplyDeleteI like him alot. I was wondering about carving the necks to fit into the body. When I did Quigley, it was scarey. Is there any particular rules on how much wood to take off the neck from the front or back.
ReplyDelete'Nother great one Lynn! That fellow would fit right in up here today;............forecast is for 2" of rain in the next 24 hrs.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing and I can't wait 'till you get him painted
