The Boss Of The Outfit - Finished

Nailed the nameplate on this honcho this morning so he's ready to ride out and check on those deadbeats that always seem to be hanging out behind the bunkhouse.   I had my doubts about this piece when I first started him but as he progressed he just seemed to get better and better, ending up as one of my best.   I really like the coloring on the Buckskin and the angora chaps add a little extra touch.  With the base he stands about 14" tall.

Hope you like him and there are more photos in the Gallery.  As always, your comments are welcomed and appreciated.

  1. Back from a great extended vacation and I get to see this buckaroo when I check the blog. He looks pretty serious, and maybe even an educated fella with that derby and all. I bet he can cipher their wages and dock them for every time he catches them behind the bunkhouse. I like him, and I really like him on the horse. I know you posted a picture of the legs of a cowboy on the horse, but I still can't figure out the way to carve him to fit. Maybe after the museum show you can (well, I know you CAN so I should say maybe you would) do us a tutorial on a fella astride his steed. Great job on the details and painting a usual...another in a long line of winners from the OutWest Studio.

  2. Outstanding is always. I really like the colors on this one. You always give us something that will stretch our current skills and take us to the next level. This fella shouldn't last long at your show this fall.

  3. Another winner! You've done a beautiful job with the painting, especially on the muzzle of the horse. This one should go fast.
