Here is a Chuckwagon cook I just finished. He's holding that coffee pot we made earlier and also a new version of a kerosene lantern. Still honing a method of making a lamp that I can share. This one is pretty close...a couple more tweeks and I think I'll have it. There are more photos in the gallery and your comments are welcome as always.
Excellent piece Lynn!
ReplyDeleteIs the apron attached after carving the cook's legs? I presume so but would like your confirmation.
Thanks again for sharing your art.

The apron is part of the body.
ReplyDeleteWowsers!
ReplyDeleteThe detail in carving the legs with the apron in front is amazing! I would have expected that the apron was added in front of the legs given the detail - what we can see of it in the photos -is so intricate!
Truly amazing, yet again!
Thanks Lynn!

How were you able to brace on the right arm after you peg and glue it? I understand you can use the old bicycle tire rubber strips for the left arm, but when an arm is in this position, it's next to impossible for me to use the rubber strips.

When I attached that arm there was a lot of material that still needed to be carved away so the rubber strips worked as they always do. When attaching anything I always leave enough material at the point where the two pieces come together so that I can carve that area to look like it was a single piece.
