Native American Woman with Papoose – Part 6

Here’s the first segment on carving the woman’s body.  I show you how to cut a few corners in sawing out the blank.  Warning!  Don’t attempt this if you’re not that confident with your band saw skills.

One thing you might be noticing with almost each video I now post…..I’m not giving you as much instruction as the earlier projects.   I’m not doing this to save me time but hoping that with the carving experience from those earlier projects you are getting confident enough to know what to do.  When I see areas that might need a little broader explanation I’ll go into those with more depth.  Hope that’s okay.  I ask for your comments with this part so I can aim the camera at those areas.

  1. I agree with the eliminating of repetitive things when you carve a caricature but could/would you maybe give us quick scan of how for example you'll carve the body of the Indian lady wrapped in a blanket and then a more detailed video (from start to finish)on the head & face. Women are hard to carve to make them look like women!!! Thanx.

  3. Agree with Bob, I'd like detail on the face for a woman. I'd also like to see detail around the neck and pants bottom.

  4. This project ertailnly has some signifiant dimension to it, she will be a large figure when ompleated. I would like some detail about the neck and fitting the head to the body...that is a process that is common to all your figures, so I think it would be helpful to get really good at that proess. Thanks for the videos.

  5. I would like to see the head and upper chest area. That is the area I have a problem with. You do a great job with your videos.
