I gave Gabby a thin coat of polyurethane satin varnish and once dry use a little Testors DulCoat to flatten any shine. Lastly, I put a couple small drops of epoxy on his pupils and he came to life. I'm quite satisfied with him and think he won't be around the ranch too long. I never measured him but he probably comes in at around 10 inches with the base. A nice impressive size.

Now.....what to do next???
Hey Lynn, Great Carving! He really turned out nice. i really like the way you painted the shirt. Question: Where do you get your plates from now? I have searched the internet and always get sites selling "desk" size plates. Maybe I am not calling them the right thing on the searches.
ReplyDeleteLynn,
ReplyDeleteAnother great carving, it turned out really nice, I like the added touches on the hanky and the gold buttons. I don't think mines going to look that good but I had a good time trying.
I don't know if it matters to people what you do next, I could just sit and watch you carve, it doesn't even need to be a lesson.
Thanks for another great project.
Deb
Lynn, I have finally gone blind from carving in detail! I am not seeing the other photos in the gallery...
