As you may have noticed, the Comments section of this Blog has been going through some changes over the past couple of days. The reason for this is that a couple of posters out there have been crossing the line by assuming they can dictate how things should be done by the rest of us. That's too bad and unfortunate. On an average day around 250 individual viewers stop by to check out what is going on. Now, because of these two people, I have to change the open atmosphere we've enjoyed in the past to a more restricted one.

I have changed the Comment section to require that only those with Google Accounts can leave a comment. This will do away with the "Anonymous" comments that were posted before. It will require you to set up a Google account but that only takes a few minutes and just might come in handy with other sites you visit. I know I use my account several times a day doing a variety of things on the web. You can sign up for an account right from the Comment box.

Hopefully, this extra requirement will cure the "anonymous" problem. If it doesn't the only thing left would be to do away with the Comment section of the Blog completely. That really would be a shame.

It's the same old line, the bad apples spoiling it. How do you get your fence rails or gates to look weathered, and do you carve them or just use small branches?

Lynn I tried for about 45 mins yest4erday to get a message to you on how great and how appreciated your video was, now I know why it diden't go through. Thanks for your video. fred k
ReplyDeleteLynn, just wanted to say again, that I enjoyed your video very much and learned so much from it. I tried posting before and it dosen;t appear that the comment blog is working. We'll try again. Thanks fred k
ReplyDeleteWell Lynn I guess I'll be the first to log in. I am not very active on any blog, but felt compelled to enter here.
ReplyDeleteYou and Judy spend so much of your time and finances helping carvers and having fun with your videos that everyone needs to speek up. OK fellows out there step up and show your support. Get LOUD!
I do not understand why, when someone does not agree with some one that they tend to go bonkers and harrass someone. They need to get a life. Move on! What is happening in our world, where it is more important to tear something down than to try and build up and improve something. Do folks not have any pride in what they do anymore? At least to sign their name, take possession on what they believe, especally when they are critical.
Now I pass the soap box on, fellow carvers, step up and speak out.
Charlie
It's a shame what people do. It's also a shame that Blogger is so limited (in too many ways to list here).
ReplyDeleteIf it gets to the point that you consider giving up on comments altogether, send me mail and I'll help you convert to WordPress where there are better spam tools and it's a very simple thing to blacklist the trolls.
Would much rather have you carving than wasting time with idiots.
All the best, Bob Easton
Thank you for making me a better carver...all my carving friends that have seen the carvings that I have done on you sight , say I'm a better carver,so THANK YOU my teacher and Judy, too. :)

I hate to say this, but this is going to stop a lot of comments good and bad, I don't know what was in the 2 anonymous comments, but they should not have caused this. If all you want is atta boy's then this should do it. This is an atta boy! I want to thank you again for all the time you have taken to show me/us how you carve. I am trying to carve pancho right now, even with your fine videos my pancho looks likes a three year old with a hatchet. thank you for showing me how and please keep on making the videos. I can't wait to see how I will butcher your monte walsh, but I love trying. with out your videos I would never even try. thanks again!!
ReplyDeleteI haven't been reading the comments of late -- spring related stuff is happening here, too.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't aware that the rif-raf was milling about and disrupting your blog.
I'd really hate to see you take all your skill, years of experience and "leave" just because of the actions of a few.
Gettin' cut off from OutWestWoodcarving and all of the good stuff that you post would be pretty hard to take.
Lynn, we need you!
i too have been away for a while-- and to return and find that you are having difficulty with a couple of posters is unfortunate--i bet they voted for obama----initially i too posted as anonymous- until i figured out how to put my name up-- im sure that not everyone agrees with everything i say-- but i will atleast stand behind it-- i too appreciate what you do for the rest of us. i think we improve our own skills by teaching others-- in your case you are helping so many that you will continue to soar-- thanks
