We’re back from Minnesota and ready to pick up where we left off. With this segment we finish the eyes, whittle a little on the ears and then move to the mustache and beard. We’ll wrap up the head in the next post and then move on to the body of the bust saving the hat till the last. If you have any questions just drop a comment and I’ll try to answer them.
Welcome Home Lynn & Judy. Hope you had a good trip and that it was cooler in the North country, tha it'd been and contihnues to be on the Plains of the Southwest.
ReplyDeletePart 4 is superb. Thanx again for all you're doing with these tutorials.
Again, I must say Bravo with this new video. Wonderful explination and execution. Thank you so much Lynn and Judy. We have had some hot weather up here in Mass. Lucky for us though we are near the ocean. We have a breeze. Thank again Lynn. fred k
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the latest installment of the series. glad you enjoyed your trip. My wife and I are off next Thursday for a two week visit near International falls Minn to see our daughter who moved there with the National Park Service from Arizona. Have only been to Minn once before, so am looking forward to it as well as seeing the offspring. I will definatly follow the series while on vacation. Welcome back.
ReplyDeleteWelcome home to you both! Sure hope you had a good trip and enjoyed your time away from the grind of making videos.
ReplyDeleteWhat is the printed material in the binder that you refer to in this video and have used previously?
Ron
Eugene, OR
Ron: Don't know if those notebooks show in the video but I have a number of binders where I keep research matter divided up into various categories. Always keep them handy in case I have a question about something.
ReplyDeleteLynn and Judy so glad you had a good trip. I have a question to ask you, How do you carve the ears without having so many cut lines on the back of the ear when you are tring to make the ear stand out? Thanks, Mary Anne
ReplyDeleteMary Anne: The ear is the first detail I carve after blocking out the head. I think I covered it in the first videos and will finish up the ear in the next one.
ReplyDeleteMary Anne, Lynn said that those little cuts will disappear when you wet your carving to paint it.
ReplyDeleteThank you Lynn & Judy for another great video! Your talents never cease to amaze me. You are truly an artist in every sense of the word. I can't wait until the next video, as they inspire me to be a better carver myself. Thanks again for all your hard work and time you put into sharing your skills with people like me.
ReplyDeleteThank you,

Absolutely superb Lynn! These finely detailed videos on facial features really "bring it home" for me. Yes, I know youve shown them all before, but with these 4 Gabby videos you really spelled out the detail.
ReplyDeleteThank you, thank you, thank you!
