Carving A Cowboy Bust - Finishing Up The Knife Work!

It rained all day so I spent the time in the shop finishing up this piece. I think it turned out really well and I tried a new trick with the base which makes it look even better. I also changed the design of the neckerchief from the original drawing to give him a little more pizzazz.

There are loads of photos in the album. Now all I have to do is to come up with a name. How about Buckeye? Comments always welcome.

  2. Lynn, Geez, I'm off the net for a few days and you fill the blog with all kinds of great stuff. Is that a pesky fly on Biscuit's back side?? I really see some evolvement in your work over the years as evidence by the cowboy heads mostly. Even the global warming fellas show what seem to be two different levels of caricature in the heads. The stuff you are putting out is so unique, hilarious, and so very hard to duplicate. These pics and details you provide are truly priceless. I'm just about ready to start painting my first carving of a Mujahideen Warrior with a bag of rockets held over his shoulder and a rocket launcher on the other side. I tried to have him standing high in the mountains on some rocks. Everytime I look at it I wonder how much better it could be had it been done by you. I know the answer to that.
