"Pancakes"

Here's one more.  "Pancakes"!  Cookie just whipped up a stack of flapjacks for the boys as a special treat for their hard, dusty work keeping those cows in line.  I had fun with this one, especially making that stack of hotcakes and painting them to look like the real article.  I hit it pretty close I think.   And again, with my growing Cataracts, doing the fine painting was a real chore.  Come on September!

I hope to contribute this one for the carving auction at the Dayton show this November.  If I remember correctly, it's an open theme again this year as last.  My Emmet Kelly from a few years back when for a nice sum whick benefits the Dayton club and I hope this one does even better.

There are more photos in the Gallery and I'll look forward to your comments as I always do.

  1. Lynn, another winner that should bring a tidy sum. Is September eye surgery?

  2. This ole boy doesn't look like he works at I-Hop, but those pancakes look mighty tasty coming off the chuck wagon out on the prairie. I'll take a short stack Cookie......Great carving, excellent detail, and your painting still is the best. I know I'll be bidding on this one at Dayton for sure.

  4. The apron is unbelievable, especially with cataracts. I could hardly see to drive before mine were fixed, now 20/20...you will be seeing better than a teenager soon and if the surgery improves your painting you will be number one in the world. Great gesture to donate this one, I bet it brings a record amount in the auction.

  6. Awesome amazing pancakes. The look just like my wife's secret recipe pancakes and my saliva started flowing and my stomach rumbled when I saw them. Never look at a good carving on an empty stomach!!!! Just for giggles and western fans we have a powwow here every year and the local paper took some pics for your carving ideas section take a look. http://www.theprogress.com/community/271316541.html

  7. Had my cataracts "fixed" several years ago and haven't worn glasses since. Good luck and thanks for all the inspiration and knowledge you have given to wood carvers everywhere.

  8. Another amazing one, really love the apron! Mile high pancakes and the attitude of the cook is priceless. I had my cataracts done a little over a year ago. Doc over here did an excellent job, only took less than 10 minutes for the surgery and only 1 hour in the office. I was extremely near sighted and nearly blind in my left eye. Now distance is great ( had lens for distance put in both eyes) and use readers for close up and carving.
    Thanks for sharing Pancakes.
