New Video Format Test

Could you please check out this video and advise if you have any problems viewing it?  It’s a highly compressed file compared to the one I’ve been using and there is a slight loss of video quality but not so much as it detracts from the content.   If it works it will save me a lot of time and effort in uploading as I presently have to monitor the modem due to the length of the uploads.  Thanks.

  1. Lynn, I see no problem with the video. I think your new process works fine. It's a treat to see how you accomplish your carvings. Great learning experience!

  3. Lynn,
I’m sorry but I just can’t see these well enough, to me IT IS ALL ABOUT THE DETAILS, and not just the contents. I want to be able to see where you take that chip from and what it look it look like after that chip has been removed, isn’t it the details that make the carving.
After seeing your work I can’t see that you would be happy with anything less than the best.
I vote no for this program, sorry.

  4. Hi Lynn,

I am viewing this full screen with an older dell computer and it looks very good.
Thanks for all the great videos.

  5. Lynn,

I don't see much difference in picture quality.

There is a problem with the camera. When it is zoomed in for a tight shot the auto focus goes to Tulsa. I doesn't work. And sometimes all we see is your finger when you move the project away from the lens. And once you sound like you are talking to yourself, it is like mumbling, and hard to hear & understand.

  6. I watched both of the videos. if the frist one is a 10 then the test video is a 8.5. it is a little grainy, but over all it is ok. I have no problem watching and seeing how to make the cuts, now if I can get my hands to do what I see is the big thing.lol I'm on high speed dsl and it took just as long to download the test as it did the others, so ether way is ok.
    thanks for doing this

  8. Just watched about half the test video and see no problem. As others have said it is a bit more grainy that the previous ones, but not to the extent that it would be a problem for me. If it makes it easier for you I say go for it.
If you decide to do your tutorials with crayons on the back of cereal boxes I'll still be watching and learning..............

  11. It's just slightly 'grainy', oterwise I see no problems. If it works for you and save your valuable time, then it's fine with me. A thought - on really detailed work you could always go back to the original way.

  15. All right already, I feel like I am being beaten upon and being the bad guy. I still like the quality of the old way, to me it’s like I have been watching digital and going back to analog. I did notice that the quality was better if you didn’t enlarge the screen but who wants to watch it that way. Yes I want to save Lynn time where he want get disgusted and quit doing the video’s but hopefully these videos will be around ……………..hey I just like the best quality.

  16. Lynn,
Have watched both video's the new way has stop and go spots and a little speech is muffed, but still if it saves you time, do it your way as any way is better than no way. Thanks for doing this for all of us.

  17. Definitely a difference in picture quality and sound quality. Overall though, I don't know that I can't see you do anything now that I couldn't see before, the other was just clearer. If there is a huge time factor for you and it makes your life much simpler then I guess that answers that. I am on a hi speed cable, I didn't see a difference in download time either way... pretty much 5-10 seconds and it's ready to go.

  18. It looks great! Still love the videos! I can't remember about the other ones, but when this one is expanded, it looks very good! Can't wait to see more...

  19. Hi Lynn,
It works for me. There was a small hesitation with the test video at play time less than 1 minute but when downloaded a second time, I did not notice it. The test video seems very slightly darker than the original way. However,I can still make-out exactly what you are doing. It is a very reasonable compromise and time saver for you. Considering the generous sharing of time for you and your wife do what is best for you. We are all appreciative of what you are doing so anything that enhances the likelihood of more teaching is fine by me.
