This year's show in Dayton was well attended but they evidently left their wallets at home. Sales were way down for just about everyone. However, the ribbon count, at least for my booth, was pretty good. Here's a rundown of how I fared in competition:
-
The Ranch House Cook- First, Human Caricature
- Second, Best of Caricature Category
Goin' Courtin'- Second, Human Caricature
Johnny Reb- First, Caricature Figure over 15 inches
Black Hawk- First, Caricature Bust
The Horse Soldier- Second, Caricature Bust
No Swimming- Second, Caricature Group
-
Dave Stetson took First Place in the overall Caricature Category as well he should have. His piece of an old couple on a park bench was quite impressive.

There were some really fantastic carving in the show as there always are. I apologize for not having more photos. It was great to meet a lot of this Blogs Followers, WCI Forum members and other friends we don't see often enough.
Glad to see that you did very well in the awards! You work hard at it and are very creative in your carvings - well done.

Congratulation on the Awards!!!! I have been looking all over to see how well you did. Now I know and can stop looking. Next year I'll be there to see you WIN them all.

From what I've seen on your blog, you should have run away with every category at the show! I can't believe there was someone else out there as good as you. Ah well, can't win everything all the time I guess...
ReplyDeleteLynn, Congratulations on the ribbons.
ReplyDeleteI like that carving you did of Don Mertz also.

ReplyDeleteCongratulations Lynn on all of the ribbons, you deserved them all. Sure wish I could have been there for the show.
ReplyDeleteVery well done on the ribbons Lynn but then your fans didn't expect anything else. Too bad about the lack of buying though. Ribbons are great but they don't pay for the gas or your expenses do they? At least you know that everyone else wasn't selling and that it wasn't just you. Look on the bright side, you are stock piling for when the economy picks up.

Congrats Lynn.
ReplyDeleteI knew you would do well. Dave's piece must have been really impressive because your pieces are unique and top notch. That's why I own one. Please out out a DVD on the bust series and continue to show us your ideas and results. Thanks for sharing.
