The Northeast Oklahoma Woodcarvers ask me if I would do another short seminar during their upcoming show in Tulsa on July 11-12 and I thought this would be a good one as it's pretty simple but still covers a lot of the facets of caricature carving. I'll do this project in two posts...the first for the carving and the second for the painting.

The blank is cut from a 2" square block and you'll find the pattern in the Gallery section along with a lot of other photos explaining the process.

Hi Lynn,
ReplyDeleteI don't know how you do such great work with basically a utility knife. I have a couple of rolls of carving tools and I can't even get close - ah, it has to be the difference in talent!
Another nice project and great job.

What a great idea Lynn. I'll have to carve one for my son. He should love it. I look forward to seeing the painted piece.

Sam....It's just Super Glue. Make sure you get the thin kind. Best place to get it is a hobby shop as they also have the accelerator. Just a slight squirt of that stuff sets off the glue almost immediately. Just don't smell the fume that comes off when it sets.
