Brushpopper Bill

Here's a bust I just completed carving. He's going to Chicago to occupy the top spot on a Bottle-Stopper Christmas tree that another artist is constructing. This guy collects bottlestoppers from all over the world and then assembles these fantastic constructions involving hundreds of different stoppers. This new one will be all Cowboys with old Bill being the "King of the Cowboys"! I'll try and post a photo once it's finished.
Here's old Bill all decked out for the Saturday Night Dance over at the Bandstand. He's got a new prospect all lined up and thought he'd better put on his best shirt to make a good impression. I hope he combed out all those biscuit crumbs from that hairbrush above his lip!!
Move photos after the jump and comments always welcome!

  1. Lynn,
Great carving!! How tall is this Stopper? I assume it is smaller than your normal bust to be a bottle stopper and would guess 4" - 5" tall and 2" wide???

  2. Todd. This is not really a bottle stopper but will be the anchor of the large group of actual bottle stoppers. It will be about 8 inches tall. He will place it at the top of the construction and build down from it with the other actual stoppers. His pieces when finished are really quite unique. Will publish a photo of the indian one he did that I also did the top piece for.

  4. Do you conduct carving/painting classes at any time?

I really love your work and would like to get better at doing caricatures.

  5. Tom.....I'm sorry but I don't do seminars. I'd suggest the Woodcarving Illustrated forum or this forum as I plan on giving tips as I go along with the various things I do. Lately however, I've been quite busy with summer projects, vacation and visits from the family. Hopefully, I can get back on track in the near future. I just finished painting Brushpopper Bill and will post the photos in the next couple of days. THanks for your interest in my work.
